Joanne Levi - L.M.T. and owner of Sacred Arts Massage Therapy in Dayton for more than 25 years.

Joanne began her journey to being a highly skilled massage therapist in 1984. Joanne joined other moms in the working world, as she went to work for Estee Lauder at the Elder-Beerman Northwest store while raising two children, aged four and seven at the time. Joanne quickly developed a reputation as a highly respected makeup artist in the city, as people began to visit the counter just to get their makeup and skincare needs met with precise expertise from Joanne. Even Estee Lauder herself took note of the buzz that quickly grew out of Joanne’s work, sending Joanne a card to encourage her to “keep making America beautiful.”

Inspired by her success, Joanne then went on to become a professional makeup artist and aesthetician, offering makeup services and therapeutic facial services, working at some of Dayton’s finest salons. Her clients frequently commented on how exceptionally healing and soothing her treatments were, noting improvements in their state of relaxation, in addition to their healthy and beautiful skin.

Joanne then took the next step to enable her to apply her formidable talents more broadly and attended the Self Health School of Medical Massage, earning her degree in licensed massage therapy. Joanne knows well the many benefits of massage, and takes a holistic approach to therapeutic work, focusing on the physical as well as the emotional and energetic well-being of her clients. Joanne is a certified Reiki Master, and practices a wide array of bodywork and massage therapy, including:

• Cranial-Sacral Therapy
• Myofascial Release
• Reiki
• Deep Tissue Massage
• Reflexology
• Lymphatic Drainage

While these treatments certainly induce relaxation, they are ideal for supporting physical recovery from injury, accompanying a physical therapy regimen, and managing challenging conditions such as fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and many other painful conditions. Numerous physical therapists have noticed the profound impact of Joanne’s work on their patients, and now refer patients to Joanne for healing work as a complement to allopathic medical approaches.

In addition to physical improvements, many clients also find that they experience deep emotional healing, better sleep, the alleviation of depression and anxiety, and more efficient exercise and daily function following their treatments.

Joanne is a licensed medical massage therapist, which requires a degree issued by the Ohio State Medical Board, unlike massage degrees issued in other states. This translates to an extensive knowledge and practical application of medical anatomy in each client’s treatment approach when being treated by Joanne. In addition to having a firm basis in medical massage, Joanne pursues continuing education on an annual basis, learning the latest therapeutic techniques to support her clients’ health and well being.

In addition to being a successful business woman, Joanne is a dedicated mom who is incredibly proud of her children – both of whom she raised while growing her practice. Joanne’s kids have grown into two successful adults in their own right, both of whom live in Chicago. Her son has a leadership role at PepsiCo’s national headquarters in Chicago, and takes advantage of Chicago’s many beautiful amenities to support his interest in physical fitness.

Joanne took the time to nurture her daughter’s early interest in science and other creative endeavors, which helped her daughter achieve her dream of becoming a scientist. Her daughter earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology at the University of Chicago, and is now a professor who works to engage and support underrepresented and low-income students, as well as students with disabilities, in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields. Joanne continues to live in Dayton, making her home in Kettering, and is looking forward to supporting you on your journey to health and healing.
